In 1838 the British began to look for alternatives for African slaves for their Caribbean colonies. They began to hire East Indian indentured between 1861-1874. By 1884, most East Indians had moved to other Caribbean nations where there were more South Asians. These locations included Suriname, Guyana Trinidad and Tobago. A small number are now in Puerto Rico.
East Indians are often running motels and small businesses in Puerto Rico.
Though East Indians in other parts of the Caribbean are often Christian, most in Puerto Rico are Hindu.
East Indian in Puerto Rico need to listen to the words of Jesus and put their faith on the one who is the unshakable rock. They need a firm foundation for their lives.
