Introduction / History

The Burmeso are descendants of the Meop, Ehwaresti, Tasti, and Abiasit clans and intermarry with the Kwerba, Haya, Sikari, Eri, Dadat, and Seriwi peoples.
The Burmeso are sometimes known as the Taurap, Boromeso, Borumesso, Burumeso, Monau, Monao, or even Manau people but they prefer to be called Burmeso. The Burmeso people of course, use the Burmeso language at home. The Burmeso language is part of the Taurap (Burmeso) language family.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Burmeso people are fishermen, hunters, and sago horticulturalists. The Burmeso people eat fish and sago. At an altitude of 150-600 meters above sea level the Burmeso people can best be accessed by boat up the Mamberamo River.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Roughly half profess Christianity, but they struggle with putting part of their faith in ancient spirits.

What Are Their Needs?

The Burmeso people have no gospel cassette, film, or videos in their language. Bible translation has started, but it has a long way to go.

Prayer Items

Pray for the Lord to have his way in Burmeso families and communities.
Pray for the Burmesos to put all their faith in Jesus Christ, and none other.
