Dahalo is a South Cushitic language. There are very few who speak it in Kenya. Dahalo is their language as well as their name. Traditionally, they were hunters and gatherers who survived on berries and wild nuts.
Dahalos are merging with other tribes; they don’t have their own villages; they live among the Swahili and other Bantu groups.
Most retain their traditional African religion, though there are Christians among them.
Many feel the need to preserve their rapidly diminishing language and culture. As it stands, they are learning the language and ways of neighboring people.
Pray for the Dahalos to put their identity in Jesus Christ and love him with all their hearts.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in Dahalo families, drawing them to Christ.
Pray for the Lord to direct Dahalo families into a bright future.
