Introduction / History

The Pataxó are an indigenous people who live mainly in the southern part of the state of Bahia and northern Minas Gerais in Brazil. Their history includes intense violence and displacement, especially after early colonial contact and later land occupation. Despite these hardships, the Pataxó have worked to reaffirm their identity and recover traditional territories.

The Pataxó face challenges related to land security, economic stability, and cultural survival. Spiritually, many need access to clear teaching from the Bible. They need Christian workers who will share the gospel of Jesus Christ with love, humility, and long-term commitment.

Prayer Points

Pray that the Holy Spirit would reveal the spiritual world and the Creator to them and for their values to be grounded in the person of Christ.
Pray for missionaries to keep up with a deep discipleship with the Christians of this tribe, so they may rise up as ambassadors of Christ, establishing the Kingdom of God in their village and in other surrounding villages.
Pray for an understanding of the Lord's protection, love and care, so they can see that everything truly good comes from Him.
