Introduction / History

The Garre are one of the Oromo tribes. Various Oromo tribes have their own language, but they are related.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The members of a Garre clan remain very loyal to each other, whether in Somalia or further south in Kenya.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Garre Oromos converted to Islam in the 1400s. Today, the Garre claim to be virtually all Muslims, being very orthodox in their religious practices.

What Are Their Needs?

Fear that Christianity undermines their identity, communities and traditions hinders Garre communities from accepting Christ's blessings.

Prayer Points

Pray for a movement of Jesus to heal and strengthen Garre communities in Kenya.
Pray for the Garre Somali to understand and embrace that Jesus wants to bless their families and neighborhoods.
Pray for the Lord to open the hearts of Garre family leaders to experience God's blessing through a movement of family-based discovery Bible studies.
Pray for Kenyan believers to build bridges of friendship and trust with Garre family leaders.
Pray that Garre who know Christ will become wise in sowing the word of God among their families and friends.
