Introduction / History

The Arupi clan of the Warembori moved south in 1988 and intermarried with the people of Kaipuri. The Warembori are sometimes known as the Warenbori, Waremboivoro, or Warabori people but they prefer to be called Warabori. Warembori is the main language at home.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Warembori people maintain their livelihood by swidden agricultural, hunting, gardening, fishing and crabbing along the rivers and marshlands of their coastal region. The peoples' main diet is sago, fish, and yams. Houses are generally along the coast on stilts. They can most easily be accessed from Serui by a 7-8 hour boat trip. They enjoy dances and song cycles.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Most are animistic, but there is a sizeable Christian community among the Waremboris.

What Are Their Needs?

The Warembori people have no gospel films or videos in their language.

Prayer Points

Pray for an abundance of gospel materials to soon be produced in the Warembori language.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in every Warembori family and church.
Pray that soon there will be a movement to Christ among the Waremboris.
Pray for them to soon become Christ's ambassadors to Muslims.
