The Tumbuka or Phoka is a small group of people originally from around the Nyika Plateau of the northern Malawi.
Currently, they have spread to Zambia, but they are mostly found between the Nkhamanga Kingdom of Rumphi on the south, Tonga on the east and Ngonde on the North. They also live in Zambia.
Basically they are a quiet people who depend on subsistence farming and hunting.
Originally, they believed mostly in magic and witchcraft, but with the coming of civilization, that has changed. Today, many are Christians. They have a complete Bible and a wide range of biblical materials.
Like most people in Malawi, the Tumbukas, need more medical facilities.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in Tumbuka families and churches, drawing them into a close relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pray for the Tumbukas to become a powerful evangelistic force in Africa.
Pray for the Lord to bless them with an abundant harvest as a testimony of his power and goodness.
