Introduction / History

The Tause are sometimes known as the Doa, Darha people but they prefer to be called Tause. Weirate and Deirate are two dialects of the Tause language. Most of the Tause people are monolingual. The Tause language is part of the West Tarike language family.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most Tause people are lowland hunters and gatherers. The people eat vegetables and hunt wild game. Conflicts are often resolved by fighting. At an altitude of 100-500 meters above sea level the Tause people can best be accessed by airplane or river. There is an airstrip between Wapoga and Otodemo.

What Are Their Beliefs?

A little over half are Christian, but they are struggling with traditional religion.

What Are Their Needs?

The Tause people have no gospel cassettes, films, nor videos in their language. All they have are printed Bible portions.

Prayer Points

Pray for translated oral Bible materials for the Tauses.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in their families and churches.
Pray for the Lord to raise up Tause Christians who love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and spirit, and teach others to love him the same way.
