Introduction / History

The Morori are sometimes known as the Moraori, Moaraeri, Morari, Marori people. They prefer to be called Moraori. The Morori have regular contact with the Marind people and the Kanum, Ngkalmpw people.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The people eat fish and sago. They primarily live by fishing and gathering food in this swampland near the coast. With their land at an altitude of less than 100 meters above sea level the Morori people in Wasur can best be accessed by bus or other vehicle using the road from Merauke. Their village of Wasur was moved in 1961.

What Are Their Beliefs?

There is a church in Wasur and about two-thirds identify as Christian.

What Are Their Needs?

The Morori people have no gospel cassettes, films or videos in their language. However, they are more likely to speak Bahasa Indonesia today.

Prayer Points

Pray for them to hunger and thirst for righteousness.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide them towards the light of the world.
Pray that soon Morori disciples will make more disciples in Indonesia.
