Introduction / History

The Mombums are sometimes known as the Kemelom; Kemelomsch; or Komolom people. They prefer to be called Mombums. At school and church, Indonesian is generally the language they use.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They primarily live by fishing in their swampy island. With their land at an altitude of less than 100 meters above sea level the Mombum people can best be accessed by boat. The Komolom area was called Mombum before the 1940s.
Most Mombum people wear modern clothing. The people eat fish and sago. There is a generator in the Komolon. No clinics are in the area but there is a health worker.

What Are Their Beliefs?

There is a church in Komolom, and a little over half identify as Christians.

What Are Their Needs?

The Mombum people have no gospel cassettes, films, or videos in their language.

Prayer Points

Pray for revival fire to consume their church, driving them closer to the Lord of lords.
Pray that soon Mombum disciples will make disciples of Muslims.
Pray for the Lord to show himself powerful and loving in every Mombum family.
