Introduction / History

The Nisa are sometimes known as the Bonefa or Kerema people. The Nisa language is part of the East Geelvink Bay language.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The main diet of the Nisa people is sago and fish. Many Nisa people farm (tubers, greens, and sago) or fish for a living. Living at an altitude of 100-200 meters above sea level, the Nisa people can best be accessed by boat. Travel from Marikai to the Nisa area consists of a 5-6 hour boat trip. Currently there are no good airstrip possibilities in the area.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Nearly three-fourths identify as Christian, but their faith is tainted by traditional religion.

What Are Their Needs?

The Nisa people have no gospel films or videos in their language.

Prayer Points

Pray for hundreds of Nisas to be blessed with an unwavering faith in Christ, one that will not be shaken, no matter what comes their way.
Pray for God to bring about his purpose for the Nisa people.
Pray for Christians to have love, joy, peace, and patience as they tell others about the King of kings.
Pray that soon Nisa disciples will be spreading the word of the Lord to other villages.
